A Journey Through Abstraction

Although my work is not representational it is autobiographical, drawing from inspiration from living in Italy, Spain, the Middle East and my immediate surroundings.

From an early age I visited museums, sketchbook in hand, looking at and analysing paintings, fascinated by the artist’s brush marks, the different use of colour, how Titian captures the light.

My work is influenced by film, books, music, dance, cuneiform, Indian miniatures and my Indian mother’s treasure trove of antique colourful fabrics.

In this rapid digital age I’m drawn to the act of painting, enjoying the slow process, the sense of adventure, systems in place, never sure what is going to happen in a work. I hope the viewer follows the journey in my work and has time to look and reflect.
